This book will tell you nothing you do not already know, but it might remind you of it. The big things, the really big things in life are already inside us, but sometimes we have forgotten where they are amid all the clutter. "

NWI Kenya is working with AIDS patients who are the victims of abuse and stigma.
There are many patients who live in fear and isolation rejected and often victims of fear and hate.
NWI is starting a support project to reach out to those who are living alone in fear and isolation often unable to survive or help themselves.
Through NWI volunteers and community networks we are providing a life line and direct practical help for these people. In partnership with New World International UK we are launching an appeal to raise £15,000 to provide relief and help to 700 AIDS patients who are the victims of hate and rejection. This is part of our anti hate , anti discrimination campaign.

Africa Awakes closed in Paris
(30th November 2008)

New World International is campaigning to change the way people look at Africa and common stereotypes of the people. As part of a series of International events aimed at challenging the way we think, Manuel Scrima has created a new exhibition just opened. NWI is working hard to educate people to see the dignity and culture of tribal communities and reduce the stigma of poverty.
Manuel is helping to develop long term development projects where each of us can become directly involved using our own talents to make a difference. NWI is expanding this series of exhibitions to include ways you can personally get involved in the lives of the poorest people on earth, people who need your help.
The campaign is part of a series of international events. New World International is partnering with ICROSS in Kenya. The exhibitions will launch a series of action projects throughout 2009 with forthcoming events in Helsinki,Tampere, Milan, Dublin, Dingle and London. The events are designed to make more people aware of Africa and the issues surrounding Global poverty and social injustice. The exhibitions are developing to include multi media presentations of Africa and poor areas of the World. Africa Awakes opens in Finland
(5th September 2008)

Professor Per Ashorn opened the Africa Awakes exhibition in Finland this week at the Global health symposium. The International conference saw a series of compelling images drawn from Africa taken by Manuel Scrima . The exhibition is part of the ICROSS NWI advocacy programme creating awareness about Africa, global health challenges and stigma. It is part of a campaign to educate and inform, changing stereotypes and negative images of Africa. As Hans Rosling said at the conference: " We have to stop thinking of 'we' and 'they', there is only US, we must stop the language we use , they are not developing countries, we are all growing, changing, evolving" .

AFRICA AWAKES challenges the way in which we percieve people. Anja Aarnio of the Tampere Conference Centre said she had never seen anything like the photographs before. At a time when many negative images colour popular views of Africa, it is we believe important to challenge assumptions and popular views. AFRICA AWAKES is a dynamic innovation that is growing and encouraging many people to ask questions, get involved and do something. Other images shared at the Global health symposium (programme) will be on view in Paris in November when a much larger presentation opens in . Dr Michael Meegan said at the opening: " We need to rethink the way we understand poverty and especially the poor, rethink where we have placed them in our minds and lives, realise we are one family".

If you would like to get involved in the AFRICA AWAKES programme or learn more about it please contact us at info@createafrica.com . Prints, enlargements, limited editions, postcards and copies of these images are available through manuelscrima@gmail.com . Profits go to long term health and development projects of ICROSS and NWI.
